He didn't realise that Stark thought that he had been sent after him to keep him safe by Steve, and he wouldn't have corrected the false assumption even if he had. He had just happened to be in the right place at the right time, and considered that the risk to himself was worth saving one of the meagre people left free.

"I don't need weapons to kill animals."

Gesturing back at the very dead boar creature as if to prove his point, he bent and shifted to lift it up and across his shoulders. It was so big that it made even him look diminutive.

"You shouldn't stay out here, more might come."

And he wouldn't be around to help out if they did.
