A good lie was one told so expertly that nobody could pick it apart from the truth, and a good liar was required to be a good actor. Loki knew the art of the lie like nobody else and, even with his head spinning with all that had happened and his energy almost gone, he trusted completely in his ability to give a good performance.

His smile was rueful, and his expression seemed open and without guile. He shifted so even the minor inflection of his body language matched his words.

"I was called in as an assistant on this recent project to be a consultant in the energy fields that surrounded the alien artefact." If his words and lips twisted a little on those last two words, it could be seen as a man who had been betrayed by his government and not his distaste for speaking of Mjolnir. He had been king when he came to Midgard, he had been the temporary All-Father, who could have been more worthy? And yet that hammer had refused to yield to his hand.

He brushed down his clothes as if self conscious, an act that took effort for his natural state was self-possession and control. "You have had experience with them yourselves?"
