He had thought that he'd managed his move to Brooklyn in relative secrecy and managed to stay under the radar so that Tony hadn't tracked him. So much for that idea. But it does mean he's grateful that his friend allowed him the illusion of privacy for the sake of his comfort, even if he didn't have to.
