Steve honestly wasn't trying to guilt anyone, which was possibly why he was so effective at guilting other people, they could see he was sincere and that did more to prick at any conscience than deliberate manipulation. He shook his head and gave Tony a grateful little smile.

"No, really, it's fine. It's late, we should head back."

He was thankful that he had been given this much of a birthday treat, it was unexpected and kind, but he didn't want to force Tony to stay around him when it was obvious that Steve had done something to upset him, perhaps merely by existing in the same space as him.

"You've done more than enough, thank you."
